As an Age-Group triathlete that’s working 45+ hour week in my full-time job, I’ve spent the last couple of years trying to optimise parts of my performance and recovery to be the best I can be.

Thankfully these have resulted in a relatively successful proven formula meeting my performance and recovery goals as a triathlete, having had all 70.3 races I competed in last year being top 10 Age-Group finishes, qualifying for both European Middle Distance Championships for Great Britain, and the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships coming up this season.

I’ve narrowed these ‘hacks’ down over the years to remove fad recovery / performance equipment, nutrition or solutions and have got myself into a proven practice that works really well for me. My time for swim, bike, run training around my professional and personal lifestyle is limited to about 10-15 hours a week, which means each training session counts for me.

To make each session the best it can be, I rely on a few things which I try and keep non-negotiable to maximise my performance ahead of, and during the triathlon season.  Firstly, for me, I’ve found getting a good night’s sleep (8 hours +) is hugely important.  Setting myself up for this with CBD Triathlete’s TRI ISO CBD Oil Tincture is a pre-sleep ritual I do every night.  CBD is well known for its naturally occurring anti-inflammatory properties. Further, the science-backed research has also observed that consumption of CBD decreases anxiety and improves sleep quality.  Therefore, CBD Triathlete’s TRI ISO CBD oil Tincture,  helps ensure that I am well rested and calmed, as well as helping to reduce any training or stress-based inflammation from the previous day.

I find another part of making sure my muscles are pain-free and less tight than they should be, is seeing my sports massage and Physio.  It’s not viable for me to see him as often as I’d like, so using self-massage with the CBD Triathlete’s TRI ISO CBD Muscle Balm is a great in-between solution that I can travel with or mainly: use for my sore muscles in the evening when I’m winding down.

Finally, the CBD infused Joint and Muscle Lotion from CBD Triathlete is something that’s always in my gym bag. After I’ve worked out and showered, I’ll use this on my legs to aid recovery from the get-go.  If you’re an athlete or train regularly, I can highly recommend trying out and using this product range as part of your recovery protocol.  Leading into a busy race season, I’ll be using CBD Triathlete’s products to help me recover and therefore perform better for GB Age-Group races such as the European Middle Distance Championships in Bilbao, Spain and the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Utah.
